Cotton Tree Lodge
Nestled between unspoiled rainforest and the banks of the Moho River, Cotton Tree Lodge offers a tranquil retreat on 100 private acres. This all-inclusive resort opened in early 2007, one of few luxury properties in the undiscovered Toledo District. One of the unique attractions is an on-site chocolate production where cocoa beans are transformed into chocolate bars.
Well-appointed accommodations offer modern comforts while minimizing the lodge's impact on the local environment. Guests stay in private, fully screened cabanas with thatched roofs, private bathrooms, ceiling fans, hand woven Mayan textiles, balconies, and hammocks. Toilets use a flush composting system, and electricity is provided by a combination of solar, battery, and generator power. The expansive tropical gardens provide a stunning backdrop use only native plants and organic techniques, providing the lodge with fresh fruit and flowers, and attracting a variety of birds and butterflies.
Each day our guests can begin a new adventure, with locally guided tours scheduled to Mayan villages, ancient ruins, waterfalls, and caves. Additional activities are available on the grounds, including horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, hiking, chocolate making, and medicinal plant walks. Special fishing or snorkeling trips to the Caribbean Sea can be schedule on request. Or guests may simply wish to relax in a hammock, listening to the sounds of howler monkeys and exotic birdlife around them.
The Main Lodge is our central gathering place, where guests come together for family-style meals or hang out on the porch to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset. This large thatch building houses reception, a gift shop, complimentary internet access, a fully-stocked bar, and a restaurant serving three meals daily. The menu features a variety of Belizean and American favorites prepared with the freshest ingredients from local farmers and our own organic garden.
