ABOUT US

Exotic Belize Tours (“EBT”) is a fully incorporated business, located in Placencia Village, in the Stann Creek District of Belize.  Placencia is a small fishing village at the end of a 16 mile long peninsula located about 65 miles south of Belize City.  EBT primarily focuses various tours and packages around the Placencia and St. Ignacio regions of Belize.

Owner and Lead Tour Guide, Basilio Mes, is a professionally licensed tour guide in Belize.  Having been raised in Red Bank Village, he brings to his tours a strong sense of Mayan tradition and heritage, carried down from his ancestors.  Language is no barrier, as Basilio speaks English, Spanish, and Mopan Maya fluently.  You can find no better guide than a Mayan who grew up surrounded with this rich culture and the pristine natural beauty of the jungle ecosystem.  With his every word you will hear pride and love for Belize in his voice.  He brings with him more than 12 years of experience with adventure tours in Belize.

All of our tour guides are professional, legally licensed guides in Belize.  We pride ourselves on being able to offer our guests the most knowledgeable and attentive guides in the area.  EBT works closely with many of the local resorts to provide our guests with outstanding all-inclusive packages.  We want our guests to have only the best possible experience on their visit to Belize.

ABOUT BELIZE

Belize, formerly named British Honduras until 1973, lies on the Caribbean coast of Central America, on the southern end of the Yucatan Peninsula.  The inner coastal waters are shallow and are sheltered by a line of coral reefs, dotted with islets called 'Cayes', which extend almost the entire length of the country.

Today, Belize's population is estimated to be at approximately 275,000. The country is a melting pot of many ethnic groups and over the years has increased due to an influx of many people from other areas of Central America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean region.

Numerous sites and ruins indicate that for hundreds of years Belize was heavily populated by the Mayas, whose relatively advanced civilization reached its height between A.D. 250 and 900.  Eventually the civilization declined, leaving behind small groups whose descendants still live in Belize and contribute positively to the culturally diverse population.
