The Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport is the main airport in Belize and it serves the countries largest city, Belize City. The airport is conveniently located near the city with it only taking 30 minutes to drive to the city center. The best way to get in to the city from the airport is via taxi. The are airport buses which run from the terminal to the city center but these services are very infrequent and it is highly recommended not to rely on them if you wish to get to the city.
Currently the airport is the hub for two airlines. These airlines are Tropic Air and Maya Island Air which are carriers which cater for tourist who wish to travel to various surrounding island destination. As a result of this, may tourist use this airport as a layover for their island travels
Although the largest and busiest airport in Belize, this airport has been considered to be a smaller airport in regards to international standard with limited flights arriving each day from nearby destinations. This is all going to change as there are massive expansions taking place which are expected to be completed in 2015 These massive expansions will increase the number of runways, improved the terminals and will increase both the capacity of flights and passengers. In the future we should see flights from all over the world including Europe and Africa hit the runways of the Philip S.W Goldson International Airport.
Overall this airport serves its purpose for anyone who wished to use it. This being said, the future of this airport looks bright with the awaited completion of the expansion. So anyone who wishes to travel to Belize City or wants to use this airport for a layover, I am sure that you will be satisfied.
