DIVE
THE BELIZE BARRIER REEF
Explore an underwater
paradise of rays, lobsters, conch, turtles, parrot fish,
blue tangs, sergeant majors, needle fish, trumpet fish
and butterfly fish and the coral reefs that they call
home!
Placencia prides itself on having some of the best diving
in Belize. This area is rapidly becoming one of the
hottest diving spots in the Caribbean region. The dive
sites along the Belizean coastline are some of the most
pristine in the area, due to the lack of commercial
boating activity.
The Belize Barrier Reef, part of the Mesoamerican Reef
(MAR) system, varies from 50' to 25 miles distant from
the mainland. The reef consists of coral mountains,
90-110 foot channels, and the edge provides a barrier
that contains gentle waves. With a slow southerly current
moving at a _ knot, the
reef offers safe conditions
for responsible divers. Vibrant and spectacular coral
reefs, teeming with colorful fish, coral, lobsters,
conch, turtles and other marine life are considered,
along with rainforests, the most biologically diverse
habitats on earth. The MAR system stretches over 625
miles of coastline spanning eastern coasts of Mexico,
Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.
From the Placencia Beach, you can see over forty square
miles of islands and reef to explore and enjoy. Your
expert guides will choose the day’s dive locations to
match your diving experience. Whether it is a drift
dive, a wall dive, or canyon dive, the Belize Barrier
Reef has great visibility and will provide life long
pictures and memories.
Our friendly PADI Dive Masters and Instructors help
make your trip to the Belize Barrier Reef safe and enjoyable.
Our boats are fully equipped with radios, oxygen and
first aid kits.
We leave from the dive shop at 8:30 a.m. for a trip
to some exciting scuba destinations. After the first
dive, your guide will find a beautiful island on which
we will rest and eat a delicious lunch. Next we are
off to the second dive of the day. And
finally we return
to Placencia at approximately 3pm.
